Expected IOQM Cutoff 2024

The expected IOQM Cutoff for the year 2024 is based on trends of previous years and students’ performance in all regions. Even though the cutoff will change, it gives the students a pretty fair idea. The cutoff marks of class 8 to class 11 students and the class 12 students are a little different as they have faced more difficulty than the former ones. The places, such as Delhi, Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Karnataka, usually have high cutoffs because those places are very well known for fiercer competition.

Most states will have cutoff marks between 10 to 40 marks, and the minimum mark cutoffs will be mainly found in regions such as Tripura, Sikkim, and Jammu, whereas Delhi and Rajasthan will be on the higher side. Cut-offs play a very significant role as cut-offs are going to decide whether a student qualifies for the next stage of the Olympiad process, that is, RMO.

Selection Criteria for IOQM

Expectedly, over 10,000 students will be selected for the next stage of RMO. However, only the top performers from each of the states would be able to proceed with the competition.

The criteria for selection are as follows:

  • Minimum Marks: The top 200 candidates from classes 8 through 11 and the top 40 candidates from class 12 will qualify for the possibility of entering the RMO. Five more girls from the top 200 in classes 8 to 11 get admission into the RMO. This will bring a good percentage of the different genders into the process of selection.
  • Regional Variation: The cutoff marks and the number of selections will vary from region to region. This would ensure balanced representations of students from all parts of the country and therefore bring geographic diversity to the Olympiad competition.
  • The quota for girls: It reserves a special quota for girls in classes 8 to 11. That is to say, at least five more female students are chosen who come from classes 8 to 11, even if they do not figure in the list of top 200 students. This serves as a beneficial deed that fosters more girls towards the STEM branch.
